RE: wheels on corner jacks

Now hold on Folks...if the camper were on a smooth, level surface, like a garage floor or nicely paved driveway, and you weren't going all that far (let's say wheeling it in/out of garage. I think with good quality wheels (low rolling resistance, good bearings) and you had some way to "cushion" it as you slowly approach your truck (dense foam?) I think it could work. It would have to be the right circumstance. You did not provide details on exactly what you were trying to do, but I don't think it should be universaly dismissed...then again, keep the video cam handy.

RE: "Best Meals in a Truck Camper"

RickW - Do you have more information on the Aerobie Aeropress?
I have tried several methods/pots, and still have not found "the" method to make the coffee.
Wayne
Looks like a new fangled french press.
We keep a french press in the camper for boondocking; no filter (built into the process), good tasting coffee, and fast.
A small electric drip (4 cup/600watt) is used for hook up sites...

I notice the OEM are much shorter than after markets...that is why I questioned their effectiveness...

RE: Mud Flaps

Yeah...a neighbor has some, brand new, never installed, I was going to give him a few $ for them...if it is worthwhile.
Bill
Unclear? Are the neighbor's OEM or aftermarket? Just curious.
Rick
They are OEM...which gmpartsdirect lists for only $20.38/pair...
I just wanted to be sure they do offer some protection, if not, they are not worth anything to me.

Is there any value in purchasing OEM mud flaps?
Are they as effective as after markets?
Seems like a lot of Folks here have the after markets...

RE: Age old question: Is this too much camper for my truck?

Slim, agreed...dealers I have worked with understand very little about how we intend to use the trucks. Once in a while, you find a pretty good tech in the shop if you ask around enough.
Often times, the dealers lack of technical info is disheartening.
Sounds like you found a pretty good one...

RE: Help me think this through? Custom Pop Up Truck Camper

I would move the fridge and storage cabinet forward and put the dinette in the rear. IMO this makes for a more "pleasant" dinette space as you have windows front/rear. Feels more spacious even though you are using the same amount of room...
Ours is like this, and the center dinettes feel claustrophobic to us...

RE: Outfitter vs Northstar

I have no dog in this fight (but I do think both are quality units...it will come down to how you will use it and what your definition of values is) but anyway, I just PM'ed you about a unit for sale out West. Some one had contacted me when I was looking...they may still have it.
Good luck, Bill

Wow, very cool. I contributed to some of the “Best Practices” manuals for Ford Motor Co. a few years ago and can attest to the amount of verification, validation, and testing that goes into putting these “Bibles” together.
Good job getting access to these davidintx…

RE: Tonneau Compatability

I could fit my TC on with my Extang in place...however it is a tight fit and the cover I have is removable (all rolled up) from either the front or rear. I now just pop it off and leave it in the garage as I am concerned it might abrade. If I thought I might want it on a particular trip (to cover the bed while the TC is off) then I would not hesitate to leave it.
Here is the cover I use; http://www.extang.com/docs/express.html.
I have used several covers on different truck...this is the best yet.

RE: Age old question: Is this too much camper for my truck?

"2500HD with the Dmax also use the AAM 11.5 axle."
What is the rating of this axle?
I will be adding airbags, ride is OK stock, but the bags won't hurt. Other than that, when I need tires I will upgrade to 265's.
Thanx, Bill
AAM 11.5 GAWR = 4950 kg, or 10890 lbs. (I don't know why they call it an 11.5)
Good decision on the 265 E tire. I suggest you research you air bag decision carefully. Some people report a poor ride empty, and in some circumstances, air bags can increase sway.
But I'm prejudice, because I prefer all steel.
Wow! Well that is good news...I did not know my axle rating was that high...makes me feel much better about my setup.
Can't wait for new tires now...
As noted, pay attention to COG and wheel/tire ratings...these appear to be the weak links and critical components.

That's what I thought...thanx.
I will be adding an auto changeover as we want to use the TC for skiing...could get pretty chilly if a tank runs out durring the night!

OK, picked up the Adventurer 810WS this morning, all went well. Stock ride is OK (it is a very windy day here today) seems to sit level but I will take some measurements when I get a chance. Stopped at the scales on the way back;
Fr axle=#4480
Rr axle=#5600
Total #10080

Sounds to me like 4wd is still engaged. Try dis-engaging while in neutral.
Also try driving in reverse for 50'...sometimes 4wd binds up.

Identify this LP Valve?

Can anyone tell me anything about this LP valve in my Adventurer...is this an auto change over type?
It is different than the auto change in our Airstream which has a red diaphragm that pops up when a tank is empty. I see no such device on this valve or any way to switch between tanks...I assume this is NOT auto change?
